“Tengelmann Volunteer Day” – Employees support social projects

At the start of 2007, Karl-Erivan W. Haub launched the “Volunteer Day”. The campaign is designed to support every Group employee in their commitment to society. Every employee who wishes to give something back to society will be given a day off work to do so.

“We are really doing very well. Therefore, we would like to actively lend a helping hand to people and institutions that are not doing quite as well,” said Karl-Erivan W. Haub, explaining the idea behind the project. The Tengelmann Group’s support is not limited to Mülheim. Employees can also set their sights on social projects in neighboring Essen, Duisburg and Oberhausen as well. “We are particularly delighted about projects that have been initiated directly by our employees“, Karl-Erivan W. Haub said in praise of individual commitments. “To me this is proof that people are identifying with the program and the idea behind it and are genuinely becoming involved.”

From the reports posted on the company's Intranet by employees who have already completed their Volunteer Day, the experiences thus far have been entirely positive. Some of the helpers were so thrilled that they are now continuing their commitment on their own time.
